I would see them doing a black Doctor before a female Doctor. (Idris Ebla or Paterson Joseph would be my choices then.)

Emma Thompson would make an interesting female Doctor, although I'd expect she'd ask for a bit too much money.

amusing aside - fry had an episode written for the show, but they keep putting it off for budget reasons and then it couldnt be used after a certain time... it's a shame he wont chuck it online, i'd love to know what his idea was..
