once again

I cancelled my City of Heroes VIP account. Can't really justify continuing the monthly payments for a game that I haven't really played much in a few months.

Also, I haven't logged in to LotRO in weeks, but I was only on the free to play account there anyway.

And it must be said, while The Secret World is fun, since I don't do dungeons or PvP that much, there's pretty much a limit of what gear I can acquire.... and I'm basically playing to have something to do during waking hours.

I play games as a form of escapism, but it seems to always end up that despite them being MMOs, I end up not grouping with anyone because even if I have friends that are playing, I'm on such a different work schedule then them that we're never on at the same time.

I accept the fact that I play time-wasting games. I don't own a car, so I can't really go too many places unless they're nearby, and let's face facts, I'm of an age where hanging out on campus makes me the 'creepy middle-aged guy'. I'm not hanging out in one of the local coffee shops, because... you know.... hipsters.

I show no shame about enjoying grindy games like MMOs and Diablo. Grindy games are mindless - you can put tv shows or podcasts on in the background while you do them and just relax.

If you'd be interested in a pointless little browser game about running around and squeezing chickens, I could give you a beta key for that.

i miss my wow days, but i just cant sit through that game much anymore. the massive steep incline from levelling to "dailies! instances!" once you hit that level cap is too much with everything else in my life. and fuck, ill admit i get sucked into all of that. plus my '09 imac barely runs it. hah. so im running through skyrim still, picking up the odds and ends quests of which there are many. doing dark brotherhood at the moment...
