Okay
Ecuador has granted asylum to Julian Assange. The U.K. is apparently mulling the idea of saying "Fuck that." and going in and getting him anyway.
Technically, there is a U.K. law that allows them to declare that the embassy no longer has diplomatic protection, and let's them enter it to get him. It would be a huge diplomatic incident, but the U.K. is probably thinking, "Haha, it's Ecuador... what the fuck are they going to do to us?", but that's not the full impact, is it?
Consider this. Assange has not been convicted of rape. He's wanted for questioning. No, I don't know if he really did it. If he did, he should be punished. Let's get that out in the open. But that's not my point. If he wasn't a major figure behind Wikileaks, do you even think this would be happening? Of course not. He's embarrased the fuck out of the U.S., and he's legitimately worried that he could be extradited there and put on trial. Hell, the Swedish authorities won't even guarantee that they're not going to extradite him.
I mean, fuck, we have some of our own politicians saying shit like he should be treated like an enemy combatant (Newt Gingrich), or assassinated (Mike Huckabee). And you have people like Peter King (R-NY) saying that Wikileaks should be designated as a Foreign Terrorist Organization. (This is the same fuckwidget who in 2011 held hearings on the radicalization of Muslim Americans.)
Again, I don't know if Julian Assange did what he has been accused of or is supposed to be questioned about by the Swedish authorities. I happen to think this is about ninety shades of fucked-up is all.

The notion of an uninformed public is why we have the electoral college and these guys salivate at the notion of us all being in the dark.

So yeah, it is about bagging Assange, and nothing to fucking do with justice or diplomatic crap...I mean hell, do they invalidate EVERY embassy where someone is accused of something? No, pretty much just this one. Even back in WWII, when the Spanish were licking Nazi balls and doing Hitler's bidding, they left the embassy ALONE.

Because really, if it is about the "rape"? Why not say so, and agree....
