Good to know

Kroger is joining the list of grocery store chains that will no longer sell beef with the 'pink slime' additive. They join Safeway, Supervalu and Food Lion, among others. (To note, Publix, Costco, HEB and Whole Foods have said they don't sell such beef either, but whether that's a recent thing or they never have, I couldn't tell you.)

Having grown up using Publix, I think they would have been offended by the very idea. So it's a safe bet that they're slime-free.

Hannaford would fire missles at people who would suggest such a thing, so... safe here, too.

Wal-mart grocery, on the other hand? Yeah, NO THANK YOU.

I don't know about others, but I knew a woman who worked at Costco; she said they ground their beef locally IN store and that it was all beef.....nothing like pink slime. So, unless they have changed something, let's hope it is long term.

Our Costco also gets in pre-packed organic beef as of a year or so ago.

When I think about how many McD's hamburgers I happily ate as a child.... *shudder*

Yeah, I'm not worried about most 'good' grocers.

But I won't eat fast food burgers. Chicken, sure - at worst they're using soy fillers, and soy's good for you as long as you're not allergic. ...which you are, which means Fuck Fast Food.

Yeah, if I have to do fast food, it's whatever they have made of boneless, skinless chicken BREAST. Period.
