Official tells US health insurer to justify 39 pct rate hike

Short version: Anthem Blue Cross is raising premium rates for its California customers by as much as 39%. (Not all customers are having premiums raised that much, but that's the high mark.) U.S. Health Secretary Kathleen Sebelius asks "WTF?"

I think we already know the answer to that question, don't we? These crooks are so brazen (especially now that HCR is faltering so badly), that they'll just laugh this off.

*nod* Right now, this rate hike is only towards people in non-group coverage in California. But I already know that my rates are going to go up next year. (We were told at the end of 2009 that are rates would normally go up somewhat, but my employer is eating the costs of that one because of other factors. I don't expect that to happen two years in a row.)
