So...

It seems that Ben Nelson (D-Nebraska) is now asking that the amendment to the health care reform that would have had all the other states pick up the tab for Nebraska's Medicaid be removed. I'm guessing that this has partly to do with all the shit he's caught over this and partly to do with the fact that the Massachusetts Senate race on the 19th is so damn close that the Democrats want to try and get everything worked out in an attempt to pass it in the next couple of days. (If the Republican candidate wins, the Democrats lose their 60-seat supermajority.)

I don't think losing their supermajority would be a bad thing.

Well, it's not like the Republicans aren't trying to filibuster everything anyway. They're still blocking the appointment of a few federal agency heads, and tying up every other damn thing that they can.

I wouldn't mind it so much if they were putting forth any major plans/legislation of their own (like say for health care reform), but they're really not. It's all a "let's block the Democrats and make Obama look ineffective" ploy.
