hrm...

I think I may have successfully addressed my problem of randomly losing internet connection. I set up a scheduled task to run the command "ipconfig /flushdns" every morning at 7 a.m., a few days ago, and I haven't had any real problems since.

Interesting. Must be on DHCP. Your PC plugged into a router or directly into a cable modem?

A router. For a while I thought I had a bad router, but this makes it look like I don't, which is a relief.

Interesting. Usually if you're doing it that way your DNS is being provided dynamically by the router, which is getting it's DNS from the cable modem (so to speak.)

Power cycling the router should fix it longer term. Assume you tried that of course.

Yeah. Hell, I'd turn the entire computer off, unplug the router, let it sit for several minutes. Then hook everything back up, and maybe have a solid connection for an hour or two. Then, *blink* it goes out for 30 seconds or a minute, and come back. Half an hour later, repeat. Half an hour later, repeat.

Annoying as fuck when you're playing online computer games.

Yeah that's odd.
