$30 for a faction change in WoW?

FUCK THAT

Huh?

[identity profile] egearman.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 03:12 pm (UTC)(link)
Do you want it as your Christmas gift?

[identity profile] kierthos.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 03:20 pm (UTC)(link)
World of Warcraft is adding the ability to change factions. Basically, I could take my level 80 Human Rogue and switch from Alliance to Horde. It does change the race of the character as well, and it has to be to a Horde race that can be a rogue.

But $30 for what is essentially an automated process? No thanks.

Actually, I'm going to be canceling my WoW account for a while, as I am no longer playing that much. I just felt the need to bitch about it.

Bum... I'm doing dailies to try and get a motorcycle...

[identity profile] mithras.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 03:43 pm (UTC)(link)
The money isn't that hard to get; what's slowing you down?

[identity profile] mithras.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 03:45 pm (UTC)(link)
The reason there's a price tag on it is simple.

If it was free, people would change daily. Pain in the ass.

So they slap a cost on it. The cost has to be high enough that people don't do it casually, but affordable enough to move around if you really want to.

Personally, I would have put a 25 price point on it.

[identity profile] kierthos.livejournal.com 2009-10-05 03:49 pm (UTC)(link)
They already put a limit on it of "you can't change faction on a character more then once every 60 days", which coincidentally, is just about how much you pay in those 60 days in monthly fees, so they're trying to double their money.

Apparently, one Scrooge McDuck bank-vault is not enough for them. :P

Laziness mostly. Raids on three nights of the week, gaming two other nights. So it's mainly laziness that is preventing me from earning more than about 200 gold a day. And the raid repair bill usually sets me back at least 100 per week.

I have a friend in Yokosuka that did faction/server change on 4 toons. Craaazy. Though I'm not complaining about having a second healer hanging around now. :)

So...
I'm on the Lumiel server in Aion.
My main is an Asmodian Templar named "Glas." ^_^

Um, if you had an inkling of how much work was put into that process, you might be a little more understanding.

Now, I'm gonna tell you, STFU and quit acting like a whiny, entitled gamer. Things cost money and if people didn't pay, I wouldn't have a job.

Their stupidity ensures that.

I will speak no more upon this.

[identity profile] kierthos.livejournal.com 2009-10-06 01:53 am (UTC)(link)
Actually, I know a lot of work was put into this. I was just hoping it would be around one month's cost instead of two.

[identity profile] chumley.livejournal.com 2009-10-06 01:59 am (UTC)(link)
It's also the same reason Server transfers cost. It's an optional service. People tend to forget about the days when you COULDN'T do either.

It's an optional service.

Now, I'll tell you what I wouldn't mind paying $30 for. If I could switch factions and stay as a human character. That would be worth it to me. (I can't stand the way most Horde races run and/or jump.)

[identity profile] kierthos.livejournal.com 2009-10-06 03:59 am (UTC)(link)
I'm already playing City of Heroes. Unless Aion has free downloading of the client like CoH does, I rather doubt I'll play it.
