That would be one major aspect of why I said "fuck it up" rather then "convert the setting". See also use of the word "badly".
Odds are that the RPGA won't allow Dragonborn or Eladrin PCs. Now, while I won't mind the Eladrin not being in the game, not having the Dragonborn is mildly annoying. (Of course, if no gnomes are in the RPGA setting, it will be so worth it. Roughly 90% of the annoying PCs I had to deal with the last time the RPGA used the Realms setting were gnomes.)
Also, regardless of what comes out in future books, the RPGA will unilaterally declare, without benefit of any real player input, what is and isn't allowed. So even if, in volume II of the Player's Guide (or whatever WotC is going to call it), Psions are added in, the RPGA will say "NO."
Now I hear that a Forgotten Realms book for 4e is going to be coming out. That will probably address a lot of the setting questions (like "where the fuck is Elminster?" and "how does the incredibly minor number of spells available address the powers of the chosen of Mystra?"), but they may fuck that nine ways from Sunday as well. I can only hope that the roughly 16,000 deities formerly in FR are reduced a lot as well (which may happen, because apparently Mystra is dead again... which may answer the chosen of Mystra question.)

Then they will turn around and pass out.
Or perhaps that was the second to last time that Rimmer failed the engineer's exam.

I'm not really certain how well all the old worlds will be able to be translated to the new one.
