Attention Columbia drivers!

I realize that you need to be places. I realize that gas prices are high, your tempers are shorter because of it, and I also realize that if it starts raining while you're driving, you start driving with your ass.

However, even considering your low intelligence as a group, there is something you should have been aware of, but apparently aren't.

This is a crosswalk.

If the light is red you are supposed to stop before the first line, like the car in the picture. Not stop before the second line. Not stop after the second line.

The. First. Goddamned. Line.

If there is someone crossing in the crosswalk, do not move your car forward into them. It is rude. It may lead them to kick in your fucking headlights with their steel-toed work boots. Do not block their path by stopping in the crosswalk. They may have had a bad day at work and climb across your hood, horribly fucking up your paint job in the process and not giving a good goddamn about it.

Once again...

This is a crosswalk:

Learn the rules or stay the fuck off the road.

I actually have a friend who did this, and it was both brilliant and funny. If someone pulls in to the crosswalk, just walk up to their window and calmly tap. When they roll it down, say, "Sorry, could you back up? You're blocking the cross walk." Nice, polite... and it freaks people out. They don't have cause to get angry, so they usually just get embarrassed.

Or, if they're assholes, just stand in front of their car and scream, "Fuck you!" at the top of your lungs repeatedly. People hate that.

Heh... I might have to try that first one sometime...

No Kidding

No kidding. I prefer to walk or ride my bike in most of the places I've lived. This includes the Bay Area (Silicon Valley) and San Francisco in particular. I'm spending time in the South and though not as bad, this is a car cuture and drivers forget who has the right of way.

I HAVE kicked in headlights, I HAVE walked across hoods of cars, I HAVE threatened drivers (since, technically, LEGALLY, their easing into MY space on the road (between the lines) they ARE assaulting me with a deadly weapon (a car) and so technically, legally, I am defending myself. So, being in the intersection during an opposing light, blocking the low of traffic (pedestrian) and assault. Three nice charges I advise them to explain to their insurance company when they explain why the need to replace a grill that I've just turned into little plastic bits.

People just become stupid in cars.

I hear you, it drives me nuts too. That said..... occasionally, I don'tpay attentions and pull too far. I do apologize and attempt to backup if I see people crossing, though.
