I can't say I'm surprised
May. 23rd, 2012 03:53 pmSee, since the Facebook IPO didn't immediately cause shares to jump to a hojillion dollars each AND it turns out that some people got warned, while others didn't, that Facebook's IPO wasn't going to be all that and a bag of chips... some shareholders have started suing everyone they blame for it.
Okay, are some, or even all of these lawsuits justified? Ehhhhhhhhhhhh.... hard to say. Facebook has made a small number of people very fucking wealthy. But since it didn't make a lot of the recent investors instant hojillionaires, they're pissed. Maybe they have a right to be pissed at Facebook and that handful of banks that didn't disclose everything.
But they should be pissed at themselves too. You see, they bought into the hype. And they believed it. And having forgotten about the last tech-bubble boom (and burst), they wanted so much to believe that a social media IPO was going to be impossibly and implausibly huge that you know... some of them, even if they had heard the info was they supposedly didn't get, probably wouldn't have believed it.
Fuck 'em. I don't own any Facebook stock. I'm going to sit back and laugh.
