Went and saw "Thor" yesterday
May. 9th, 2011 12:43 pmYou know, I'm fully expecting a "We're going to war with Jotunheim" YouTube clip in the same manner as the LotR "They've taken the hobbits to Isengard" clip.
Casting was pretty good (although I was expecting someone a little more Mongolish for Hogun), and the movie pacing wasn't bad at all. Anthony Hopkins as Odin was awesome.
Also.... the trailer for "Captain America".... ho-lee shit. I want to see that movie so much now. And I didn't even collect the comic when I was a kid. (My brother Eric did, though.)
Speaking of comics, there are a couple points during the movie which are obvious throw-aways to the comic origin of Thor. As the resident comic-geek in the group that saw the movie, I had to explain things to people at the end of the film, including the importance of the stinger at the end of the movie. (Yes, there is a stinger at the end of the movie. Like that's a shock in this genre any more.)
