Here's a thought...

The Swedish government wants to extradite Assange from Britain, not to actually prosecute him, but to make sure he doesn't get extradited to the U.S.

After all, it's much easier for the U.S. to get him from Britain, considering the "fast track" extradition treaty we have with them.

..... nah. Probably reading too much into it.
