What a coincidence, Mayor Bob Coble is not going to run for re-election.
Of course, Columbia operates under the "weak mayor, strong city manager" system, along with the clusterfuck of a City Council we have. I swear, there's no plan too sketchy, no idea too badly planned that they won't throw money at.
Only they can't any more, because the city is fucking broke. Actually, that probably won't stop them. At least one of the City Council (E.W. Cromartie) had to be reminded multiple times that he had to pay property taxes, water bills and that campaign donations aren't tax deductible. (Of course, considering that no one ran against him last time, I can't really see what he needed campaign donations for.)
