It takes Kenny Rogers' "The Gambler" to remind me that I haven't read Penny Arcade yet today.

Mark Sanford was hiking the Appalachian Trail. No, wait, he was in Argentina. Yeah, Argentina, that's it.

Regardless of where the fuck he was, he left without telling anyone where he was going. His wife didn't know. His kids didn't know. The Lieutenant Governor didn't know. Hell, his bodyguards didn't know.

And not only did he not tell anyone where he was going, he didn't let tell the Lt. Governor that he was taking off, so there was no temporary transfer of power. Thankfully, there were no emergencies that might have required the decision-making powers, such as they are, of the Governor.

This is, after all, the same man, who wanted to refuse $700 million in federal aid because it was part of Obama's stimulus plan. That money was only going (in part) to teachers and education. But, hell, this is South Carolina! The last thing this state obviously needs more of is smart people.

I can only hope his little jaunt to wherever-the-fuck comes back to haunt him again and again so that any hopes for a Presidential run in 2012 end in misery for him.
