Homes being burned, the inevitable mudslides that will happen later this year... I've come to a conclusion. (Actually, I came to this conclusion a few days ago.)

I have a solution for this. No one in Southern California is allowed to own anything that makes a spark. Yes, this would mean that everything (and everyone) south of Fresno has to go back to a neolithic lifestyle.

Sorry, but them's the breaks. The laughter you hear will be the Native Americans over in Nevada, laughing at you from their casinos.

This is actually the eco-friendly plan.
The non-eco-friendly plan involves paving everything south of Fresno.

(Yes, yes, O brother Eric, I know I said Sacremento in the car. But then I looked at a map. Sacremento is just a little too far north.)

I've had five customers and two homeless people in tonight. Part of me hopes it's this dead for the rest of the week. I mean, look, I don't want the store to be doing so badly that we have to start cutting hours, but apparently, this week is the "we're remodeling parts of the store, but we're not actually going to close the store" week.

I can't understand that at all. Every other business I've seen, unless it was something damned simple, if they're remodeling, they close. Us? We stay open. Never mind that they're probably going to be ripping up the carpet in the entire store, or repainting, or whatever. Nope, we're going to be open!

And guess which shift most of the work is going to happen on? That's right... mine.

So, I can only hope it's dead this week in terms of customers. Or that they walk in, see a bloody flaming mess of a remodel, and decide to come back later (or just wait until another store is open).

But who am I kidding? We're in the middle of wedding season. I'm sure to have some Bridezilla in at some point, because she waited until the last minute for something for her middle of the week wedding. (I see a lot less Bridezillas now that I don't really work weekends any more.)
