I went in last night, and they had me and another guy (Haydn) on the schedule for third shift. There was nothing to do, and the person I needed to talk to about adjusting my vacation time wasn't in, as she had called out sick.

So, I went back home. Hadyn was cool with it, as he just recently got back from a long vacation. But I am going to have to be at work tonight (even though there may be nothing to do), and I'm planning on showing up on Thursday and Friday, even though I've been told that the store is closing at midnight, under the simple logic of "Well, what if we actually aren't closing at midnight?"

I'm also wondering when we're going to start seeing the re-branding of the store. You see, FedexKinko's is changing its name to FedExOffice. (That's right, it's F-Off. Get it out of your system now.) Changing all the signs, shirts, screen-savers, files, and whatnot is going to run many hundreds of millions of dollars, and FedEx (the main corporate entity) has decided to institute a hiring freeze for at least a while, because gosh, wouldn't you know, gas prices are up, which directly affects a company that does package deliveries, but they just can't put off spending several hundred million on a name-change for a subsidiary until gas prices go down. Why no! They've already scheduled the name change into the budget, and lord knows you can't change those things once you write them down in ink. (In this manner, they remind me of the local university, which has a habit of making all these big expensive grandiose plans during the flush times, but then, five years later, when they're actually supposed to spend the money on said plans, and times are no longer quite as good, continue to spend the money anyway because they budgeted for it, and they wrote that fucker in ink too.)
