had dinner, talked about various things, and got to play with the Wii one of them (Jason) owns.
Now, here's the thing. I still think Wii is just about the silliest/stupidest name to possible give a game console, but damn if the thing isn't fun. We played Wii Tennis (I suck at it), and fooled around in Rayman a little. For the record, I also suck at Rayman. The only contest I won was "Bunnies Can't Fly", and I managed that victory by less then 1 percent difference in distance in hurling a Rabbid. However, I should note, that I am incapable of hurling a cow.
I also liked the cooperative shooting game in one part of Rayman, although it brought up the "philosophical" question of "Where do all these plungers come from?" (Plungers are the ammo in the shooting game.) The response I got from Blur was "They're stored in clips."
That really doesn't answer the question, but it is an answer.
We (Jason, me, and Blur) discussed Ars Magica 5th edition for a while, namely the various exploits that Blur's character was getting up to, which apparently include a floating fortress (and I have to say, I gave him some extra suggestions for "purely defensive" systems for the castle, like a lightning moat, ballista that shoots Arcane Connections, and so forth.), gryphon riders for aerial defense, and many other amusing subversions of the genre.
All in all, a fun night.
