the next expansion in World of Warcraft. It's called "Wrath of the Lich King", and it's going to add (among other things), the continent of Northrend, the hero class of Death Knight, and another new profession, Inscription. The level cap will also be going up to 80.

Now, how they're going to mesh all of this with the fact that it's been previously said by developers that we'd need to be level 100 or so to even have a chance against Arthas (aka the Lich King), I don't know.

A few things have already been talked about on the Death Knight Hero class. You see, instead of 'promoting' an existing character to the Hero Class, you get to unlock the ability to create a Death Knight character. Once you get to level 80 on any character, you can start a series of quests that will end with the ability to make a Death Knight. (Now, whether you can only create a Death Knight on the server you unlocked it on or on any server is up in the air.)

The only other things known about the Death Knight is that they're proposed as a combination of tanking and damage-dealing (presumably a Warrior/Mage or Warrior/Warlock hybrid of some kind). They will wear heavy armor, but they won't use energy (like Rogues), Rage (like Warriors) or Mana (like all the casting classes). They will instead carve runes into their swords (well, presumably any weapon they have equipped), and then expend those runes (which have a cooldown on their use) to activate special abilities. The three types of Runes are Blood, Frost, and Unholy.

Now, how the heck these characters are supposed to be accepted by either the Horde or the Alliance is also unknown, because all existing (and most previous) Death Knights in the Warcraft series are either dead or "the bad guys". (People like Arthas, Teron Gorefiend, Baron Rivendare, etc.)

Of course, I can only hope that between now and then (as well as actually in this upcoming expansion), they remember to do something with the Engineering profession.
