So my monitor is going south on me...
Mar. 7th, 2006 10:54 amI've checked the power connections and whatnot, but that's not it. Looks like the monitor that is at least five years old is going to be dying on me soon. (Yes,
mithras, five years. I have no idea what the hell you do to monitors to make them burn out so fast, but this one went easily half a decade.)
Now, I have a couple choices of what to do. Not having a monitor is not an option, but I don't have the finances to replace it in the manner that I want to. I can replace it, but I really want a 19" or 20" flat panel, and those suckers run a bit of cash. I mean, even at newegg, we're talking a couple hunded bucks for a 17" one. Now, I can get another CRT same size, for about a hundred bucks, from newegg.
Or, I can do the amazingly sensible thing and just take the CRT monitor that the ex-room-mate left behind over two years ago, which is larger then the one I have now. I assume that if was going to come back for it, he would have come back by now. But as far as I can tell, he never returned for anything after he moved out. And since I've already taken the scanner he left behind, most of the pangs of guilt have already had their chance.
