Mar. 29th, 2005 01:10 pm"My fellow Americans, I'm pleased to tell you today that I've signed legislation that will outlaw Russia forever. We begin bombing in five minutes." Ronald Reagan, on August 11, 1984, when he thought the microphone was off during a radio address.
I was only 12 when Ronnie said that, and I don't recall it at the time, but damn, that's funny.
I've caught the Roast of Jeff Foxworthy a couple of times now, (once late at night when they didn't bother bleeping anything), and damn me if the funniest part there wasn't the Bush impersonator (pretty sure it's the same guy from the short-lived series "That's My Bush"). I mean, when you can get the crowd howling and rolling in their seats just by pausing in your lines, and doing a small nod, you fucking own the room.
By the way,
the_corruption may have been on to something with his mention of WXRY 99.3, the newest station here in the otherwise blighted capital of South Carolina. For one thing, they have a live streaming version that can be played via a number of programs (including WinAMP, which I am currently using), and they have played some amazing songs that I have never heard before. Incredibly shocking that he could be right about something. (I kid, I kid. He could kick my ass without even trying, and even if he couldn't, his wife could cripple me with a pair of salad tongs.) I mean, their website even shows what they're going to be playing soon. Goddamn, that's nice. (As I type this, we are two songs away from one of my favorite songs by the Spin Doctors, which I haven't heard in _years_.)
Working on an idea for a piece of fiction... it ties in with one of the ideas I've had for an RPG (one of the ones I was going to use the d20 system for), but I have to see how it pans out in my head/on paper first.
Oh, and for what it's worth, my headache (no doubt related to my recent illness) has finally gone away. Fucking thing lasted since early Friday, and Tylenol, Advil, and Advil Cold and Sinus (not all at once, I'm not that dense) only reduced it to a dull pain. Oddly enough, I kept myself fairly well hydrated with Gatorade and fruit drinks through the whole weekend, but I didn't realize the headache was gone until I had my first Dr Pepper since Friday. This says something about the healing power of Dr Pepper.
