Something I've noticed
Oct. 11th, 2004 12:02 amI have a paid account. Therefore, I can (in theory) go to http://kierthos.livejournal.com and that should resolve with no problem.
And it does. At work.
Here at home, for some reason, it no longer resolves "correctly". I get "Invalid cookies. Try logging out and then logging back in."
I've had to delete all my cookies in my internet settings in order to get it to work right again. (very strange) I wonder how this happened? Will it happen again? Should I really be bothered?
And now, on to something Camarilla-related (note: If you are not part of or do not care about Cam-stuff, you may safely ignore the rest of this.)
I've noticed, on the Ordo-Dracul list, a lot of people talking about the characters they plan on making. Now, realizing that only a small fraction of the actual player-base that plans on playing a member of the OD is on this list AND actively participating in the discussions, I have nonetheless noticed that the vast majority of the characters discussed seem to be on the order of a couple hundred years old or older.
I find this mildly disturbing. I can't exactly articulate why, other then the vague unease from which I know is my knowledge of the lack of research many (but not even most) Cam members perform on even the simplest of things. I cannot count the number of times I have heard people make inaccurate historical statements at games. Statements that were in-character, and wrong in any number of ways. (Most of these, by the way, are Brujah/Carthage ones, just by volume.) Part of it is the wonder in where the younger vampires are going to be, and part of it is the realization that these centuries old characters will nonetheless adapt to modern technology in a rapid amount of time in order to use e-mail, IRC, and whatever else they can justify.
I'm really beginning to wonder if I want to play a member of the Ordo Dracul. It's not just because of the people on the list (some of whom seem to find subliminal messages in the list saying "you must respond to every message"), but because, more and more, I don't think a member of the OD fits the style of character I want to portray. More to the point, with no local chapter, my IC time will be limited to e-mail lists and IRC, and hence, I will be creating a modern character regardless of the clan/covenant I choose, but given my generally abrasive nature.... I really think I should start the new Chronicle with "The Bastard"..... a Carthian.
I'll have to give this more thought.
