Somehow, with my "copious" free time, I've managed to finish Neil Gaiman's "American Gods" and "Neverwhere", read Alan Moore's "Watchmen", and get about halfway through Dumas' "The Count of Monte Cristo". This is in addition to perusing the latest d20 book I bought "Savage Species" (which, among other things, has rules for playing Mind Flayers).

Damn... that is a decent amount of reading in one week....

Okay, I was in an IRC room when the topic of various console games came up, and I expressed my dislike of more then a few games, only a couple of which I have played... a person in the room (okay, it was Dan Wright), said basically that I shouldn't knock it before I tried it...

Sorry, that's patent crapola.

I don't always have to try something before I know I won't like it. It doesn't require first-hand experience of having nails hammered through my hands before I know I'm not going to like it. Similarly, there are quite a few genres of games that I just don't like. I can't stand football computer/console games. I don't need to play every single one out there to know that I'm not going to like them. I generally don't like fight games, as it requires too damn much memorization of button commands to do very well at them. (Soulcalibur is an exception. I like that game.)

I don't like FPS games overly much. The only one I ever really liked was Doom. And that was 10+ years ago.

Everyone, of course, is free to express their opinions... why do mine get shit on so often though?
