Okay, now I'm pissed....

Okay, this rant is Camarilla related, so if you have to ask "What's the Camarilla?" then you might as well ignore this entire post, 'cause I'm not going to fucking explain it. Now for the rest of you, just a slight amount of background info: (And btw, as with all LJ stuff, the CoC does not apply here, as this is not a Cam Forum, a Cam event, or anything other then a Cam rant.)

1) The rules list for Version Six of the Mortals rules opened up recently.

2) I have played a character in Columbia, SC's Mortals game since 1998.

3) Randy Ochs, AMST Rules, does not have a fucking clue when it comes to the Mortals venue.

While the first two points are fact, the last can be seen as an opinion. It isn't. It is also a fact. He has already stated that there are no Sanctioned Mortal games in existence, yet there exist games in Columbia, SC, Chattanooga, TN, and Salt Lake City, Utah, at a minimum. I was about to find out about those last two in about 45 seconds on IRC. So, he has the basic research skills of igneous rock.

Second, many of the proposed changes in the Mortals rules are to counteract what he has been blanket-statement calling cheese in the Cam/Anarch venue from Mortal PCs with Psychic Numina. Okay, Randy, the purpose of the Mortals rules is not to eliminate the problems with one Venue. Can Mortals be overpowering in Cam/Anarch? Depends on how they are built. But considering that they cannot fucking heal nearly as fast as Vampires, have all kinds of nasty problems when it comes to Dominate and Presence powers, and can never get anything resembling WAT, or for that matter, even the Bomb, I don't see it as a problem. They also can't see through Obfuscate without a Mid Approval Merit that at best only works against the Intermediate levels of Obfuscate. They also can't get extra actions during a turn, ala Celerity or Rage. So what's the problem?

What Randy Ochs is trying to do, or more to the point, what he is the voice for, as this is no doubt a team effort to bend over Mortal character and fuck them sideways, is eliminate certain problems. You do not do that by eliminating the good with the bad. You do not do that by changing the rules for Psychic character so much that they no longer resemble anything not only from the previous book, but from the current book.

"oh, oh! an evil psychic blew up our elders!" How is this the fault of the rules? How is this the fault of the players who have characters with Psychic Numina who have never done this? It's the fault of the STs for letting this shit happen! Educate the fucking STs who let this cheese through, don't punish all the players for the actions of a few.

I'm getting really fucking tired of the vampiro-centric nature of this game. Wait, I here you cry, where did that shit come from? Well, fuck, when Randy Ochs' only two examples of why those fearsome MORTALS need to be nerfed into the ground, he used examples of Ghouled Psychic PCs killing vampires. So, since he is not providing any other examples of why Mortal Psychics are a problem, I can only assume that it is because that someone doesn't like the idea that a Mortal character can kill a vampire character at easily as he said it happened.

Tough shit. There are more venues out there then Vampire, and not even other venue's "balance" needs to fucking revolve around them.

Is how these changes to rules are always predicated upon some character, be it a Wraith, Pyschic, were-penguin, what have you, killing off a vampire character.

Because Randy Ochs has not supplied any evidence or examples other then Psychic characters (more to the point, Pyschic Ghouls) in a Cam/Anarch venue killing multiple vampire characters, I can only assume that someone cried and whined their way to the top and said that because it wasn't fair (hey, to quote Dan Wright, the WoD isn't fair) the Psychics had to be nerfed.

Frankly, the vampire-centric take on all the rules disgusts me. I can still remember when Obliviate got nerfed because a couple Wraiths almost took out a certain Vampire character.

It's not just the double costs that bother me (although that is part of it). It's the double costs on top of the teaching requirements on top of the limitations of number of levels of Psychic Numina maxing at your character's Willpower. The same with Theurgists too.

Show me another character concept or character type that must find a teacher for their second power.

Show me another character concept or character type that must pay double experience costs for their second power.

Show me another character concept or character type that has a limitation on the number of levels of powers they can take based on their Willpower.

Mages don't need teachers. Sure, it speeds things up, but it's not necessary.

Vampires need teachers for Out-Of-Clan Disciplines, but they're not paying 6/12/18 for them.

And Tremere don't have to limit themselves to a number of levels of Thaum equal to or less then their Willpower.

So why?

Ass-Raping the Venue...

Sounds a lot like when Wade Racin, way back when he was Master StoryTeller around the time of 3.0 or so, permantly desanctioned from play the Thaum ritual "Chill of the Wind Saber"... Granted, it's cheese, but WHY did he desanc it?

The way I hears it, he got kinda mad when it was used to kill a character of his...

I love way they run this organization...

Reminds me of congress....

Like the old saying goes... Everyone rises up to the level of incompitance required by their position...

It's a little late, but there's also a Sanctioned Mortals Venue in Nashville, TN.

Currently Nashville is running all 7 venues.

Thought you might wanna know.
